Theodor ”Ted” Otto Nommensen was born on October 4, 1938, in Marshfield, WI, the second son of Rev. Walter O. Nommensen and Cordelia (Nee Siegler). He passed away on Wednesday February 15, 2023. Brought to the Lord in baptism on October 18, 1938. Five years late his family moved to town Wayne when his father accepted the call to serve Zion and St. Peter’s congregations near Kohlsville, WI. He attended grades 1-5 at St. John’s Evangelical School in West Bend. He attended grade 6 at St. John’s Lutheran School in Lomira. Grades 7 & 8 were taken at rural public school near home. He attended Northewestern Prep for high school and Dr. Martin Luther College.

After graduation, he married Genevieve Marie (nee Lothert) in Morton, MN. Their union was blessed with six children; Rev. Timothy Lee (Sandra) Nommensen of Paris, TN., the late Rebecca Marie (the late Kenny) Hulce of Crystal Falls, MN., Thomas Nommensen, Debra Tobias of Fond du Lac, WI., Mary Lynn Blazel (Bruce Vanderbunt) of New Berlin, WI., and Rachel Ann (George) Wang of Dousman, WI. Timothy, Rebecca, Tom, and Debra were born in McNary, AZ. Mary and Rachel were born in Rhinelander, WI. Grandchildren; Aimee (Jake) Stephani, Bethany, Krista, Tim, Dave, Jason, Kayla (Isaiah), Heather, Kaytie (Terence), Ashley, Joshua (Nattasha), Jenkin, Maddux, and Grace. Great grandpa of 6. Brother of Arnold (Carole) Nommensen. Brother in law of Gene (the late Ardell) Lothert, LaVonne Lothert and Betty Lothert. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceded in death by his brother Walter (Mavis) Nommensen, his nephew/ Godson Kevin Nommensen, and brother in laws, LeRoy, Floyd (Della), Richard (Darlyne), Marlow (Darlene), Harry, and Reinhold.

Ted accepted a call to serve at East Fork Mission, Whiteriver, AZ., in  1960. In 1966 he accepted a call to serve at Zion Ev. Lutheran School, Rhinelander, WI. In 1975, he accepted a call to teach at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School in Jackson, WI. He retired from the teaching ministry in 2001.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, S66 W14325 Janesville Road, Muskego from 2-3pm with a Funeral Service at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, West Bend, or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Muskego appreciated.
