Ted Cebula

Cebula, Theodore “Ted” of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away at home August 5th, 2023 at the age of 82 years.

Ted was born December 22, 1940 in Youngstown, Ohio to George and Helen (nee Hutira) Cebula. He was one of four children with older brother George, twin brother Tom, and younger brother Ray. He had a love for science that grew from his father, a physics teacher at Campbell Memorial High School.

Ted and his wife, Virginia (nee Flor), were married at Notre Dame Church on August 12,1972 in New Hyde Park, New York. He worked at General Telephone for many years which brought them to Acton, Massachusetts. In 1974, Ted joined the Science and Business department at the Milwaukee Public Library where he worked until his retirement.

In his free time, Ted loved camping, snowmobiling, and spending time with family and friends. He was very good at fixing just about anything and was always willing to help others. His greatest joy in life was having a loving wife, three wonderful children, and two special grandchildren. He also enjoyed listening to Packer and Brewer games.

Ted is survived by his wife Virginia, three children: daughter Sharon Wunschel (David Wunschel) of Richland, Washington, son Michael Cebula of Bayside, Wisconsin, and son Stephen Cebula of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and two grandchildren: Jacob and Maya Wunschel of Richland, Washington. He is also survived by brothers: George Cebula of McCarthy, Alaska, Tom Cebula (Lauretta Cebula) of Campbell, Ohio, and Ray Cebula (Sondra Cebula) of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, plus cherished nieces, nephews, and their families.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 12, 2023 at St. Gregory the Great Church on 60th & Oklahoma from 9:30-10:45 with Mass to follow at 11am.

Kenny and I will always remember the many visits Ted made to McCarthy while visiting brother George. Ted often visited and harvested my cucumbers and lettuce but made sure there was plenty left for me! He was always a welcome sight to our community , always ready to pitch in and help where he could. We will miss those visits but we are assured we will see Ted again when we are reunited in our heavenly home. Our prayers are with the Cebula family!

I was saddened to hear of Ted’s passing. I had the privilege of working with him for many years when he served as the Science and Business Coordinator for Milwaukee Public Library. Not only was he knowledgeable and well respected, but I always found him willing to extend himself for others. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

I am very saddened to hear of Ted’s passing. I worked with him at the Milwaukee Public Library. He always helped solve problems with helpfulness, positivity, and a smile. What I’ll remember most about Ted was his sense of humor. He was such a good, down to earth person. Every year the library would put on it’s annual fundraiser and Ted used to look quite smart and dress up in a black tuxedo. I’d always say, “Is that James Bond or Ted Cebula?” Then we’d have a laugh! What a great guy.

My deepest condolences to Ted’s family. May his memory be a blessing to you all.
