Theresa:
• Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in Racine. Parents were Sicilian Immigrants who started the Farina Cheese Company in Racine.
• Worked all her life. She worked at Schusters which became Gimbels and was with Gimbels store for 20 1/2 years. She said, “I retired at the age of 70.” People would skip their turn just to have Theresa wait on them.
• As an adult, Debra her eldest granddaughter began to realize Tony and Theresa Verona must have saved every penny they earned just to buy Christmas presents for all their grandchildren. They travel to wherever Frances and her children lived to visit and took not just 2 or 3 grandchildren to Knott’s Berry Farm and Disneyland, but all 5!
• When one of their daughter’s was in need of anything, it magically appeared.
• Was always kind to every one, always said thank you and God Bless You even during her last 24 hours of life.
• Always gave more than asked of. Walked to and from work and went to Polka dances at the VFW, joined various senior citizens groups, went on bus trips and attended church on Sundays.
• Traveled the United States to visit family, and then the Holy Land in 1983 at the age of 72.
• Raised three beautiful daughters. Baked homemade bread and Italian Cookies on her day off Wednesdays and every Christmas.
• Her home was always ready for unexpected company and so was she. One time Debra asked why we had to get ready so early on the weekend and she said, “In case someone comes over.”
• Nana’s kitchen was the gathering place for the entire family.
• She always babysat every single grandchild, crocheted hand towels for gifts.
• No matter how many people she fed, her frig was always full and her door always open.
