Tom Burlowski

Age 74 of Milwaukee, passed away May 17th, 2023.

Tom was born on March 5th, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating from Mesmer High School, he served in the US Army as a Military Policeman. After his military service, Tom graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville with a degree in Radio and TV Communications. After a stint in food services managing Milwaukee area Arby’s restaurants, he pursued a career in the trucking industry, retiring as Safety & Compliance Director at Midwest Refrigerated.

He volunteered with his church, notably as business manager of a church summer camp near Wisconsin Dells, as local church bookkeeper, and as a deacon. After retirement he volunteered for the Milwaukee-based Center for Veterans Issues, driving clients to appointments.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Goldie Burlowski, brother John (Joan Sampson) Burlowski, son Tim (Jeannie) Burlowski, grandchildren Matt Burlowski and Elise Burlowski, and six cousins. This list would be incomplete without mentioning Thom Rozelle, non-biological kin, long-time family member who provided loving care to Tom during his time in home hospice.

Tom’s life was defined by affection for his hometown of Milwaukee and Wisconsin sports teams, a love of good food, thoughtful service, Christian faith, and a willingness to bring new friends to the table.

A memorial service will be held June 17th, 2023, at Poplar Creek Church Greenfield, 11530 W. Layton Ave, Greenfield WI 53228. There will be a brief visitation at 10:30 A.M. followed by a service at 11:00 A.M. and a light lunch. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Center for Veterans Issues (https://www.cvivet.org/) or another effective organization assisting veterans.
