Vera
Raugulis

Raugulis, Vera nee Vilcins-Wilkins was born September 1, 1922, Riga, Latvia and passed away March 17, 2007 with her loving husband of 60 years, Indulis Edward ?Ed? Raugulis, and adored daughter, Astrid Liv Scholler at her side. She is preceded in death by her parents Arturs Vilcins-Wilkins and Olga Von Zeringer-Wilkins and her only sister Tamara Praulins-Bracs and her beloved brother Woldemars Valdis Wilkins. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. The Soviet occupation of Latvia led to the escape to Germany with her family, where Vera lived in refugee camps in Augsburg, Germany. Vera found her brother?s grave in northern Germany as a prisoner of war and awaited the release of her father from a concentration camp and supported her mother and sister in these difficult times. She married Indulis, another prisoner of war from Riga, Latvia and they had a child, Astrid. The entire family immigrated to Wisconsin where Ed became very successful as head of mechanical engineering at Harnischfeger Corporation and Vera worked in accounting at the First Wisconsin Bank and did translations. Vera spoke four languages, attended private schools in Europe and loved world travel, reading and life. But more than anything she loved her family. She was more than a mother to Astrid, she was her best friend, and is greatly missed by her mourning family.

?Love in the past is only a memory. Love in the future is a fantasy. Only here and now can we truly love.? Tao. Vera was greatly loved and a part of us is gone forever. We will be having a small, friend and family service at 2 PM with a Visitation starting at 1 PM at Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center on Wednesday, March 21, 2007. Entombment to follow.
