Walter Stephen Schmidt

Walter Stephen Schmidt, age 83, of New Berlin, passed away on Tuesday March 8th at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Waukesha, Wis. with family by his side.

Walter was born on August 7, 1927 in the Town of Lake, Wis., the son of Emil and Florence Brown Schmidt. On October 16th, 1954, Walter married Anne Hoekstra of New Holstein, Wis. Walter, a gifted carpenter, retired from Thomas and Egenhofer in 1995. He was previously employed by Joseph Lorenz, Inc.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Anne; sons, Scotty, Kurt Karen, and Walt; daughters, Jeanne and Bonnie; grandchildren Katie, Hannah, and Andrew; sisters, Florence Rahn of Sussex, and Lillian James Martens of Milwaukee; sister-in-law Marie Norbert Barthels of Sheboygan Falls, ten nephews and nieces; grand-nephews and nieces, cousins, care givers, and friends.

Walter was preceded in death by parents, sister Margaret Waits, brother’s-in-law John Henschel and Adolph Rahn, and sister-in-law Emmy Henschel.

Visitation for Walter Schmidt will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 12:00 – 1:30 PM at GRACE CHURCH, 4800 South Calhoun Road, New Berlin, WI 53151. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 PM. Pastor Bob Brown will officiate.
