William James Riggins

Born to Eternal Life Oct. 17, 2011, age 86 years. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rhoda (nee Cook). Loving father of Stephen (Deb) Riggins, Carolyn (Bobbi) Bones, and John (Sharon Mazzoni) Riggins. Dear grandfather of Celeste (Troy) Burau, Kelsey Riggins, Judson Riggins, Erin (Felemon) Belay, Casey Griffin, Brett Bones, Robin Palmer, and Brooke Palmer. Proud great-grandfather of Lexton Burau. Further survived by special niece, Nancy Joda, other relatives, and friends.

Mr. Riggins was a graduate of Lawrence College and the University of Michigan Law School, where he graduated with honors (Doctor of Jurisprudence). He served as an attorney in both South Milwaukee and Milwaukee for many years. He was a dedicated member of the Democratic Party in Wisconsin – serving as the Milwaukee County Democratic Chairman from 1961 – 1964; was an active campaigner for J.F.K in the 1960 election; with his wife, attended the Kennedy inauguration by invitation in Jan. of 1961; and was selected to be a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention in both 1964 and 1968. He was an avid supporter of University of Michigan athletics – especially football. He was a member of the Victors’ Club of Milwaukee and Chicago. His passion for Law and the Democratic Party may have only been eclipsed by his passion and love for his family, the University of Michigan, the Green Bay Packers, and fishing.
